I HAVE A DREAM Let’s take a walk in someone else’s shoes for a moment. You are a non-Christian with a large family that enjoys an extremely close relationship. You have several new friends that talk about the love of God and about someone called Jesus who gave his life for you. The more they talk, the more fascinated you become with the subject, to the point that you go to church with them on Sunday. The things you hear stir your heart and start to grow stronger inside of you. You are on the verge of making a decision, but there are several things that you have to consider first that make this extremely difficult for you. If you become a Christian, your family members will disown you and the male members of the family will more than likely try to kill you. Your friends will turn their backs on you and refuse to acknowledge your existence. You will lose your job and more than likely you living quarters. All of a sudden, the decision is not so easy, is it? In times of persecution where would you turn? I have a dream. The dream is growing. In the Old Testament there were cities of refuge where one could flee to in the time of trouble. Why does that have to be Old Testament? Why can’t we do that today? As I presented this idea to some of the pastors, it took hold and started to grow. Several of the pastors close to retirement age have stated they would like to be a part of this so this is how the dream is growing. A small, village/school that could take in new converts that have had to flee from persecution, disciple them, teach them a trade, and just work with them, until they have matured enough, spiritually and feel that they are ready to go out on their own. Up till now, this has been kept between us and has only been talked about with other Christians. So why write about it now? The village of Bounkamana, unaware of all this has given us about 25 acres of land as a gift. In this culture, to refuse the gift, is a big insult so just maybe, this is the next step is a dream becoming a reality. What we are asking for is for everyone to make this a point of prayer, because this would require a lot to get it off the ground. Because of the conition of the economy, some have already labeled it impossible. Not so. If God is in this, He will provide a way.
